There are many machine learning algorithms to choose from and not every option will be a good fit for the challenge at hand or the data available to you.

Usually, this also involves the creation of a proof of concept model that demonstrates what level of capability is realistic to achieve.
Test models for performance, quality, bias and fairness
We thoroughly test our models to ensure that:
- The model’s performance fits the use case. For example, requiring adequate compute power and delivering predictions with reasonable latency.
- Predictions are accurate, including minimising the types of errors that would have an outsized negative impact on the usefulness and safety of the model’s predictions.
- There are no unknown biases and fairness issues and corrective action is taken, where possible. A model can perform well across the entirety of your data, but fail to provide good predictions for some subsets. For example, the classification of jobseekers of minority ethnicities could be disproportionately inaccurate.
