How YouTube can help you gain more Tech skills

Sometimes as a data analyst or data consultant, I do get stuck on finding solutions to data management problems. It is important to note that within the data analytic or data management space, things tend to change rapidly based on the latest trends. Using YouTube as a data analyst has really helped me to improve my problem-solving skills and my ability to resolve specific problems within my line of work.

YouTube is a video-sharing service where users can watch, like, share, comment, and upload their own videos. The video service can be accessed on PCs, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.  It is also important to note that most aspects of YouTube are free and can be accessed by anyone that has an internet connection. YouTube is a platform that has a lot of content when it comes to different topics and specific subject matters.

As a consultant, I have come to understand the powerful nature of YouTube and its importance on resolving data analytic problems.  Various tech companies are also embracing the platform by also uploading great content that brings about solutions to their customers or clients. For example, SAS, which is one of our partners, has an active YouTube Channel and I enjoy their content a lot based on the solutions they offer when it comes to using specific applications.  SAS has a video on YouTube that talks extensively about what SAS Visual Analytic is about and how it can be used; I would recommend this video as a great starting point for the SAS VA suite.

Microsoft, which is also one of our partners, tends to publish great content for its customers on the YouTube platform. An example would be a Microsoft Power BI for beginners on YouTube, which provides an excellent space for learning about the fundamentals of Power BI (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXqFXG4rzXE).

For me, YouTube is a great platform that is incredibly accessible to anyone looking to upskill, particularly for those within the data management space to learn, find solutions and get clarification on certain subject matters. I also believe that as a data analyst, using YouTube is a simple and effective way to enhance one’s problem-solving skills and it can also help an individual to learn new skills.
