Big Data LDN 2022

I recently attended Big Data LDN, one of the biggest tech exhibitions and conferences in London and I was really excited by the latest kind of technology that was being showcased. It was particularly invigorating to see a large number of people gathering again at a conference centre in London, especially when the entire country was locked down two years ago because of the rapid spread of the COVID-19. The organiser did extremely well to put together this great event. I found out about this event via LinkedIn and I am very glad I was able to attend the event.

HoloLens 2

The conference was from the 21st to the 22nd of September 2022 and I was able to attend on the second day. The layout of the conference was 100 exhibitors, 12 theatres, and 200 speakers and live demos. The first stand I visited was Denodo. I was curious about the kind of service that was provided. I approached the sales representative and simply asked for a demo of their product, where they told me about the services they provided which basically deal with data virtualisation software. I must confess It was really an eye-opener for me knowing that companies are producing so many great data analytic tools in the data management space. The subsequent stand I went to had great software on display. It was really exciting to see the next-generation solution software for data quality, data engineering, data virtualisation, data mesh, and data architecture.

One of the innovations that was of particular note was the Microsoft HoloLens2. It is essentially a virtual reality headset that captures data and transfers the data into Microsoft Power BI - I was captivated by the technology. Another software vendor that caught my interest was Dremio. Dremio is an open data lake house platform that can be used by less technical developers. Most vendors had great platforms on display. I was able to attend one of the conferences in one of the theatres where the speaker was a representative from Collibra. He spoke about their product and how it can help resolve data quality issues significantly - I was impressed by the live demo he gave. The Collibra software is some very advanced software for data quality and I would classify it as being within the same space as Informatica or perhaps even slightly ahead.

Butterfly Data as a company believes in the approach of exploring new technology or platforms that would enhance the growth of our company and also help in the deliverables towards our clients

I would definitely recommend the event to any data professional or anyone that wants to learn more about Big Data. I look forward to the next event, hopefully next year.
